Dry your hot dogs completely and let set in the air while you heat the oil to 350 degrees.
Whisk together flour, corn meal, baking powder, sugar and salt. then add together milk and egg, mixing completely. The batter will be thick so it can stick to the hot dog.
Insert a skewer carefully the length of the hot dogs. Pour batter into a tall glass about an inch from the top. Stick hot dog in glass and twist the hot dog as you slowly pull out of the glass. Make sure the hot dog is completely covered, there is no rule you can’t re-dip.
Place coated hot dog in oil and cook until golden brown about 5 minutes. Carefully remove from oil and place on a paper towel lined plate. Enjoy this piece of your childhood and all the memories that flood back.
For the spicy mustard just mix honey and mustard. For spicy ketchup mix the ketchup and sriracha, I used a tablespoon but put to your taste. Remember, I like spicy!
